Forgetful?

I've been reading in James for the past several weeks.  James is such a rich book that is filled with application.  AND...it's not complicated to understand.  For example, read with me James 1:23-25

"For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror.  For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets what sort of person he was.  But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out - he will be blessed in what he does."

Let's look deeper into this passage:
Do you want to gaze upon the person you used to be...  "what sort of person he was", OR will you gaze upon the scriptures that reflect what you can become... "peers into the perfect law of liberty...one who lives it out - he will be blessed in what he does."

If you're tired of life you are living then start living a your life in a new direction.  It's really not all that complicated.

Notice also that James speaks of the Bible, not as something that takes your life away and keep you away from all fun but rather as something that brings your freedom... "peers into the perfect law of liberty."  Is that how you view the Bible?  Here's a new thought for many of you...The Bible, God's way, the lifestyle Jesus set for us...Will always set you free.  You think people who are chasing every desire are free?  C'mon...they're anything but free.  They are captives of their flesh...always having to do whatever their skin commands.  But not us...Not for those of us who peer into the Bible to learn how to live.

Command your skin, your flesh, to shut up and begin to peer into the freedom that comes when we follow Jesus!

Have a FREE week.
Much love,
Pastor Matt
